MyHajj حَجّي · Hajj & Umrah Tech Challenge 2026

Makkah's oldest duty: serving the pilgrims, in the age of real time.

MyHajj, the Hajj spinoff of MyUmrah, is a layer of real-time intelligence around each pilgrim: he is guided step by step, his provider plans, his guide acts, his family is reassured.

No one walks alone, no one is without news.

Nusuk registers the pilgrim and guarantees their place. MyHajj brings their Hajj to life, in real time.

Pilot season operated on a full Hajj in 1447, under our pilot name MyUmrah: ~500 pilgrims · 2 Saudi providers · 89% app installation.

Film · 2-3 min

Fatima leaves for the Hajj. Salma experiences it from Paris.

A family decides, picks their package, books on Nusuk, then every check-in of Fatima's journey lands as a notification on her daughter's phone. From the living room to the return, one Hajj lived on both sides.

1.7 million hajjis are managed as individuals: visa, permit, card. The field's real unit is the organised group: the room, the bus, the tent, the moving group. MyHajj makes it visible, plannable and tellable: one real-time journey graph, given back to those who live each Hajj.

01The Companion · pilgrim

File, journey, live programme, GPS SOS: guided step by step, in their language, aware of the rite, the place and the hour.

02The Orchestrator · agency & provider

Packages, documents, finances, algorithmic rooming, and group scheduling within official time slots assigned.

03The field app · guide

Full roster, QR check-in rite by rite, live agenda, SOS handling with escalation.

04The Family Link · family

A family profile in the app: messages, journey milestones and the Mawqif photo feed, on our secure infrastructure.

We mapped the journey. Twelve stages, five moments.

Our analysis grid, drawn from the field: what the national Nusuk backbone covers, what the agency and the provider hold, and the stages that, to our knowledge, no one owns today. Three are orphans: they are ours.

  • The national backbone: the transaction (stages 2 to 4)
  • Covered today by the agency (stages 5 to 7)
  • Covered today by the provider (stages 8 to 10)
  • Orphan stage, MyHajj owns it (1, 11 and 12)

Inspire

The longing precedes the visa.

The decision to perform Hajj is born within the family, in the mother tongue, years before departure: savings, plans, questions.

What MyHajj doesInspiration and preparation content in the pilgrim’s language, the family project followed in the app, and the file pre-qualified before sales even open.

Convert

From profile to paid package, without friction.

Incomplete or badly entered profiles: rejected files and lost queue positions.

What MyHajj doesTajhiz · تجهيز: profiles approved on first submission: identity photo quality, passport validity (six months beyond travel), exact name concordance. The file departs clean, submitted once only.

  • Tajhizتجهيز

Dozens of packages, filters that fail, pilgrims who choose badly.

What MyHajj doesDalil: wishes captured, a Plan A and costed Plan Bs, the right packages saved as favourites, and the exact amount to fund in the wallet. On sale day, the pilgrim knows exactly what to book.

  • Dalilدليل

A wallet to fund, high amounts, a single sale day to buy well.

What MyHajj doesRecommendation only: the right top-up amount so the pilgrim is ready on sale day and takes Plan A, B or C depending on availability. No collection, no instalments: nothing flows through MyHajj.

Prepare

A complete file, a pilgrim ready.

Passports, photos and vaccines scattered across WhatsApp and e-mails.

What MyHajj doesThe pilgrim uploads his Nusuk file to the app: only the essential data for travel is requested; API integration will be conducted under agreement. This constitutes the pilgrim's digital vault: identity, health, travel. Health information is entered with explicit, separate consent, in structured fields, visible only to care teams. In anonymized aggregates, it also helps the reception system to scale before arrival, under agreement.

  • Tasleemتسليم

Uneven religious training and medical preparation, in a language that is not the pilgrim’s.

What MyHajj doesA preparation journey in the pilgrim's language, the agency's pre-departure meetings relayed in the app, dense checklists (suitcase, documents, the meningitis vaccine reminder at the right time), designed also for elders and those who read little.

Last critical milestones: sacrifice, badge, instructions, often handled in a rush.

What MyHajj doesHady: the sacrifice order, tracked. Departure briefing, manifests ready, the family enrolled in the Circle of Trust (Itminan).

  • Hadyهدي
  • Itminanاطمئنان

Operate

The ground, in real time.

In 1447, a regional crisis rebooked flights at scale: the information never reached the ground.

What MyHajj doesRihla: real-time flight tracking, change detection, arrival boards scoped by access rights, buses sized on actual passengers, badge and SIM tracked.

  • Rihlaرحلة

Rooms, shuttles, arrival Umrah, visits: the stay is a continuous operation.

What MyHajj doesTaskeen: algorithmic rooming: one hotel arrival (~40 pilgrims), 2 h to 1 click; the season, several days to 1 hour. Majlis: moderated multilingual channels. Ziyara: Madinah treated as an itinerary.

  • Taskeenتسكين
  • Majlisمجلس
  • Ziyaraزيارة

Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah: the five hardest logistical days in the world.

What MyHajj doesTafweej: execution of official time slots by group, QR check-in rite by rite, four bus flows. Aman: SOS GPS with escalation. Numbered bed at Mina, sacrifice status pushed at the right time.

Serve

The bond continues after the return.

The last memory decides the story the pilgrim brings home. Almost no one takes care of it.

What MyHajj doesTawaf al-Wada sequenced with check-out, transfer to the right airport, Zamzam instructions, an everyone-home tally, family notification, an on-the-spot survey (Rida).

  • Rihlaرحلة
  • Ridaرضا

Today’s Hajj pilgrim is tomorrow’s Umrah client: today, he is lost.

What MyHajj doesPilgrim's digital vault (documents, travel history), data ready for a Nusuk Umrah booking in a few gestures, consolidated NPS by package and by hotel. Health data does not appear there: it is purged or anonymized after the season.

  • Ridaرضا

What MyHajj will never do.

Complementary to Nusuk.

Nusuk registers the pilgrim and guarantees their place. MyHajj brings their Hajj to life, in real time.

Nusuk carries the individual and the sovereign core: it registers the pilgrim, secures their visa, their permit, their hotel, and guarantees their place by the book. It knows who comes, when, how. MyHajj operates what the national base does not cover by construction: the organised group in real time, the spoken mother tongue, the guide who acts, the family reassured, from intention to return. The sovereign base below, the living journey above. We duplicate neither the registration nor the visa. And it is under the wing of the ministry that carries Nusuk that we wish to build what comes next.

The religious dimension remains human.

AI plans the logistics. The Bayan remains with the scholars.

Spiritual content and Bayan are carried by the provider's guides and ulama. Our technology stops at the threshold of the religious: it organizes schedules, places and groups, never meaning. It produces no religious content, and never will.

Twelve modules. Names from the trade.

Twelve components of the same technology platform. Each module bears the name the profession already uses: it is our common language with the field. The bootcamp innovations naturally fit within them: the Family Link in Itminan, the execution of official time slots in Tafweej. Built for a saturated network: offline mode, a synchronisation queue, SMS fallback for alerts.

What we did in 1447.

Production screens from pilot season 1447, the application as it ran across a full Hajj; and the health mock-ups built for 1448. Personal data masked or replaced with demo data.

The back office that plans AND conducts the Hajj.

Capacity and quotas, automated تسكين/تفويج, logistics and Mina camps, live dashboards, post-season analysis. From the first intention to loyalty: one operational backbone, shared by the provider and its agencies.

The journey of the Hajj, in three gestures.

Three gestures of the pilgrimages of old structure MyHajj: guiding each pilgrim on the road, ordering the march of the group, carrying the news to the families who wait.

01Guide each person

On the road, in their language.

The pilgrim is guided step by step, aware of the rite, the place and the hour: "your Tawaf slot opens in 28 minutes". An interface designed first for elders: simple, readable, one gesture to call for help.

02Order the march

Each group, in the right window.

The provider prepares its groups inside the official slots allotted to it: group order, counts, buses sized on the real. MyHajj relays and executes the official slots; it never issues its own.

03Carry the news

Home knows, without intruding.

Every milestone reaches the family by itself, in the app and in its language: arrival, Ihram, Tawaf completed, everyone home. And the Mawqif feed shares the chosen moments. No one is without news.

Five people live these three gestures. Here are their films.

One Hajj, five films.

The same journey, lived by those who make it happen. The screens of pilot season 1447, and the prototypes built for the jury on August 26.

Short · 1 min

The authorities: the season at a glance.

Densities, check-ins, incidents: the real picture, live. Aggregated, anonymised, shared on convention. The dispatch runs on the real.

Short · 1 min

The provider: from paper to real time.

Yesterday, spreadsheets and printed lists. Today, one fluid platform: rooming in a click, the official slots executed, the buses counted.

Short · 1 min

Mariam, the agency: hours upon hours saved.

Pre-departure meetings scheduled, documents checked, her pilgrims ready in a fraction of the time. And on site, a clean handover, nothing lost.

Short · 1 min

The guide: no one stays lost.

He holds the group, rite after rite. An alert sounds, Fatima is lost: he reassures her in the app, then rides to reach her in minutes.

Short · 1 min

The doctor: understood without the language.

He does not speak her language. But he reads her Shifa card: her health, entered in French, read in his own. And he understands, in time.

The film · 2 min

Fatima & Salma: one Hajj, two screens.

From home and back, through Fatima’s eyes: the preparation and the file, the offers chosen and the wallet ready for Nusuk, the goodbye, every check-in that reassures Salma in Paris, the room assigned live, and the moment when, lost then weakened, a doctor understands her through her Shifa card.

Pilot season 1447 · under real conditions

The return on investment, in three proofs, measured over pilot season 1447. Internal measures: installation against smartphone-equipped pilgrims, satisfaction by in-app survey at the end of the stay.

17 SOS
handled with escalation during season 1447
2 h → 1 click
rooming a hotel arrival, measured in 1447
15 languages
served natively in 1447, more to come in 1448

Logistics become invisible: the pilgrim devotes himself to worship.

01Efficiency

Rooming, from two hours to one click.

For an arrival of ~40 pilgrims at a hotel, room assignment took about 2 hours of manual work. With MyHajj, one click: the system already knows the families, the couples and who booked which room. Rooming (التسكين) and grouping (التفويج) automated across every hotel and every arrival wave.

02Adoption

A direct channel that replaces WhatsApp.

89% of affiliated pilgrims installed the app, 75% opened it every day, 4.2/5 satisfaction. An official link with the pilgrim: fewer calls, fewer errors, more loyalty, across the whole season.

03Safety

Locate a pilgrim in seconds, when safety demands it.

During the pilot season 1447, managed in the app: 17 SOS incidents handled with escalation, GPS position transmitted to the guide, six-step protocol, handoff to official emergency services as soon as a medical component appears. Locating is event-driven (SOS, check-in, device-based geolocation): on peak days, at Mina and Arafat, it is locating that finds a pilgrim. And when a diabetic pilgrim falls ill at Mina: the physician opens his Shifa · شفاء carnet, reads his treatments in Arabic, acts. No language barrier at the moment when it would cost most.

The most personal data of a lifetime. Protected accordingly.

During preparation and the Hajj itself, a passport, a health record, a GPS position and a family circle are all in circulation.

We designed the platform as if every pilgrim were one of our own.

01Hosted in the Kingdom

Hosting of pilgrim data within the Kingdom: commitment held by the Saudi entity by 2026, NCA requirements from design. PDPL and RGPD compliance from design.

02Role-based access, logged

Every access to sensitive data (health, passport, position) is logged and auditable. Unusual access triggers an administrator alert.

03Minimization

Ask once: we never collect what Nusuk already holds, and each role only sees what it needs to serve the pilgrim.

04Granular consent

The family circle (Itminan) rests on the pilgrim's explicit consent: who receives what, emergencies or milestones, revocable at any time.

05GPS position: protection, never surveillance

Locating is event-driven: SOS, check-in at rites, geolocation computed on device. Short retention, densities returned as anonymized aggregates. No continuous tracking, no commercial exploitation.

06Security DNA

Founded by a serving Group CISO. Static code analysis on every release, compartmentalised multi-tenant architecture, encryption at rest and in transit. Certification path under way: ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR and the local frameworks (PDPL, NCA ECC).

Data protection is not a box to tick. It is a starting point.

What the jury will see on August 26.

Three innovations built during the bootcamp, on top of a base already in production: the demonstration chains the 1447 proof and the 1448 trajectory.

Bootcamp · demo on August 26

The app, optimised by data

A full season of data in service of 1448.

The pilgrim app rethought with data and feedback from season 1447: simplified journeys, readability for elders, group rite time slots integrated into the schedule. Native multilingual: 15 languages in 1447, more in 1448, and messaging that translates written and voice messages.

Bootcamp · demo on August 26

The provider portal

Manage, supervise, coordinate.

A web portal and mobile app so the provider manages, supervises and coordinates, with aggregated and anonymized export to official systems, by agreement and at the request of the authority. Official allocated time slots integrate into Tafweej, which relays and executes them group by group.

The Family Link, in the app

A family profile in the application.

The family has its own profile in the app: messages, journey milestones and the Mawqif photo feed. Install rates climb, so does the audience, and the data stays hosted on our secure infrastructure. Explicit pilgrim consent (Itminan).

The partners we want to build with.

None of this is done alone. Here is the ecosystem MyHajj wants to serve, and what we imagine building with each of them. Intentions, stated clearly.

01The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah

To build under its wing: our clearest wish. It already carries Nusuk; we would wish our specifications written in the light of the national foundation, our roadmap guided by its review, and the platform ready, proven and compliant for Hajj 1448.

02Nusuk

A connection and an introduction with the Nusuk team, to build alongside them: data integration will come under convention, in full respect of the sovereign core. The national foundation remains the foundation.

03The Nusuk field teams

On-site coordination during the season, when our teams and theirs share the same ground.

04The National Cybersecurity Authority

Sensitive data hosted in the Kingdom, best practices and compliance: we come seeking the standard.

05Haramain (HHR)

Train ticketing woven into the Makkah-Madinah itineraries, luggage included.

06STC

The eSIM delivered remotely before departure: the pilgrim lands connected.

07The Hajj medical facility

Ministry of Health, medical posts of the Holy Sites, Saudi Red Crescent: we come to plug in, not replace. In 1447, each pilgrim could enter their health information, accessible to the medical team. The Shifa · شفاء record, in coded fields and legible in the caregiver’s language, is what we are building for 1448: shared on request, under explicit and separate consent, logged access; in emergency, a traced rescue access (break-glass).

08The hotels of Makkah and Madinah

Room booking and management on the provider side, plugged into Taskeen rooming.

09Bus companies and ride services

The four flows of the Hajj peak and the stay’s shuttles, sized on actual passengers.

10The 1448 pilots

Four Nusuk providers to prove the model at scale, over season 1448.

No agreement is claimed here: this is our partnership roadmap, the one the CODE program should help open.

The challenge file.

The official deliverables (Startup Profile, Design Thinking workshop) and the project documents, in three languages, live in an access-controlled dataroom.

Vision 1448: equipping four providers end to end, under the MyHajj name. Inspire, convert, prepare, operate, serve.

In service of Vision 2030: enriching the experience of the Guests of the Most Merciful and supporting the path to 30 million Umrah pilgrims a year.

We did not discover this problem in a report: we lived it, wristband on, in Mina.
